"SEE Community" aims at inspiring households to explore the future of community energy inclusive of envisioning and discussing how to develop solar energy and other renewable alternative energy.


Contest THEME

Our contest theme would like to focus on "Build My Ideal Solar Energy Community". During painting, we expect kids and parents to:

šŸ“Acquire more knowledge about solar energyšŸŒž

šŸ“Discover current practices of solar energy in different communities of Hong Kong and the worldšŸ’”

šŸ“Envision and plan how to apply solar energy at home or in your communityšŸ”šŸŒž


Contest RULES

šŸ“ŒThe contest starts from 30 June to 6 October 2023. The deadline for submission is at 23:59 on 6 October 2023

šŸ“ŒAfter contestants complete your solar energy community painting, you MUST submit your personal information, a picture of your artwork and a picture of you and it via the provided Google form below. Also, you MUST keep your physical artwork for the award exhibition.

šŸ“ŒArtwork MUST be original and plagiarism is strictly prohibited. The violator will be disqualified.

šŸ“ŒOpen to Hong Kong residents ONLY


Contest SPECIFICATIONS & COMPETITION GROUPS

According to your competition group and community (or any community you are familiar with), contestants can choose and download a colouring/painting material from the pictures in the post (or click here); and create your masterpiece with it.

šŸ“ŒYour artwork MUST include two elements:

šŸ”¹Solar technologyšŸŒž (e.g. solar panel);

šŸ”¹The community you live or are familiar withšŸ” (e.g. šŸ“buidings/estates, šŸ“transport oršŸ“public areas)


šŸ“ŒArtwork Format:

āœ…All drawing tools are allowed

āœ…A few of collage elements

āœ…Physical artwork

āœ…Digital drawing (required to submit a screen recording of the whole process)


šŸ“ŒCompetition Groups:

1ļøāƒ£ Toddler and social inclusion (TSI) group: 5 years old or below or those who study in special school/have special educational needs (SENs);

2ļøāƒ£ Children group: 6-12 years old;

3ļøāƒ£ Public group: 13 years old or above


šŸ“ŒIntroduction to the idea of the artwork: šŸ”¹The family of the TSI group MUST submit a 30-50 word brief description of parents' expectations/concepts regarding what "solar energy community" or inclusive society their kids would grow up in (e.g. opening school as a solar energy base, advocacy of social inclusion etc.).

šŸ”¹Contestants of children group MUST submit a 1-2 minute video recording description regarding the ideation of your artwork with the theme "Build My Ideal Solar Energy Community". You may just express your creativity or refer to the questions below for your description.

šŸ”¹Contestants of public group MUST submit a 100-150 word description to answer 3-4 questions below for how the ideation of your artwork could show the theme "Build My Ideal Solar Energy Community".


A. Where do you expect the installation of solar panels in your community? Why?

B. What solar facilities do you expect your community or home to have? Why?

C. Who should be responsible for the maintenance of the solar panels or solar facilities in your ideal solar energy community?

D. What do you think about how your community could promote more concepts regarding green cities?

E. What do you think about how solar energy could promote an inclusive society? (Elder-younger, SEN students, people with physical disabilities, etc.)

F. Other important thoughts or plans?

1ļøāƒ£ Artwork: HD and bright scanned file in form of PDF, PNG or JPG within 25MB (Photocopier scanner or scanning mobile app can be used) 2ļøāƒ£ Process or picture of your creativity šŸ”¹One picture of the contestant (with family) and your artwork

šŸ”¹(If applicable) digital drawing is required to submit a screen recording of the whole process (upload to your Youtube/Google Drive/Onedrive)

3ļøāƒ£ Ideation of your artwork:

šŸ”¹Family of the TSI group: 30-50 word brief description

šŸ”¹Contestants of children group: a 1-2 minute video recording description

šŸ”¹Contestants of public group: a 100-150 word description

4ļøāƒ£ (If applicable) the TSI group and children group need to upload your student ID or student handbook as proof


Contest JUDGING CRITERIA, PRIZES, AWARDS & ANNOUNCEMENT

Judging Criteria:

šŸ”¹Theme expression (solar energy community): 30%

šŸ”¹Attraction and beauty of design: 30%

šŸ”¹Creativity: 30%

šŸ”¹Appropriateness and realistic implemental plan: 10%


After Finalist Selection: Initial screening will proceed after the deadline on 6 October 2023; the artwork of contestants in finalist will be uploaded to our page "SEE Smart Energy Community" for a 3-week vote. #VoteFormatMayBeChanged After the vote, the artwork with the most amount of LIKE (and community vote) will be rewarded with "Most Popular Award"; besides, "SEE Smart Energy Community" will select a "Distinction Award" after the event.


Contest result: rewarded in HKBU in the "Closing Carnival cum Young Energy Scientist Graduation and Awards Ceremony" on 16 December 2023; the artworks of the contestants in finalist may be exhibited or published later


Certificates, Awards and Prizes: The first eight coming of the public group will be both rewarded with a certificate; for encouragement in participating and envisioning low-carbon, smart community, and development of renewable energy, the first twenty coming of the TSI group will be both rewarded with a certificate.

Contest NOTICE

šŸ“ŒEvery contestant can ONLY submit your artwork once.

šŸ“ŒOnly then can the contestants COMPLETE the contest if you choose one of the colouring papers of solar energy community for your artwork and provide the mentioned information (or if you join "Solar Art Jamming" of Smart Mate cum "Young Energy Scientists Star Certificate" Summer Camp on 15 July 2023 and provide the mentioned information)

šŸ“ŒOnce the contestants submit your artwork, you agree with the terms and conditions of this contest.

šŸ“ŒOnce the contestants join the contest, you agree that the Asian Energy Studies Centre owns the perpetual right to use your artwork and the pictures/videos you provide including but not limited to, modifying the content, publishing, distributing, exhibiting, and promoting in any form, etc.; and without obtaining the consent of the contestants or paying for that in advance.

šŸ“ŒThe contestants' personal information will be only used for identity confirmation, reward and contact. Please ensure the accuracy of the information so that we can notify you of receiving the award and other arrangements.

šŸ“ŒThe contestants MUST ensure your artwork is original and without violating others' rights (including copyright and privacy). The contestants will be disqualified and the awardees need to return all the prizes if your artwork violates these regulations. The contestants will be responsible for any legal issues arising from your artwork.

šŸ“ŒDuring the vote, if the organiser finds any injustice or dishonesty (such as buying votes, bribery), we will disqualify the contestants and without any explanations and proof.

šŸ“ŒAwardees will be notified of the awards ceremony in November and MUST be present and show the awarding message in HKBU in the "Closing Carnival cum Young Energy Scientist Graduation and Awards Ceremony" on 16 December 2023 šŸ“ŒPlease contact and enquire the organiser for the authorization to others šŸ“ŒThe pictures of the prizes are only for reference; the organiser may not guarantee the exchange.

šŸ“ŒSome awards may be absent if the judge thinks the artworks in the contest have not met the criteria.

šŸ“ŒIn case of any disputes, "SEE Smart Energy Community" reserves the right to make the final decision regarding this event.
