AI-Assisted Simplified Energy-Audit Experiential Activity @ Fu Tip, Tai Po

The Asian Energy Studies Centre (AESC) of the Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University was invited by the co-organisers, Household Electronic Reborn (HER Group), the Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation, and the Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service (Community Centre Division) to participate in the "Green Spark – Home Appliance Doctor's Visit to Fu Tip" training program.

During the class session on June 29, an AI-assisted simplified energy-audit experiential activity was held to provide introductory energy audit training for seven women from Fu Tip Estate. The activity aimed to help participants learn how to use various measurement tools and analytical methods to conduct basic energy audits, while deepening their understanding of the relationship between climate change, energy use, and energy-saving actions.

Participants first learned the basic concepts of energy auditing. The team introduced the key steps of the energy audit process, and then divided the participants into groups to try using measurement tools and calculators in the activity room to conduct simple measurements and collect data on-site. Through this activity, the team hopes to enable participants to perform simple energy audits at home, allowing them to assess and further improve their household electricity consumption habits.
