The Asian Energy Studies Centre of Hong Kong Baptist University, in collaboration with the University of the West of England (UWE), hosted a dynamic and engaging Energy STEM Workshop. This event aimed to inspire community students to explore the fascinating world of energy through interactive play.
Workshop Overview

Our team partnered with a social enterprise - Carbon Linking to
co-create this exciting Escape-room game. Students were invited to participate in the Escape Room Challenges, a competition with the grand prize of a trip to a new planet! This playful approach set the tone for an immersive learning experience, breaking down barriers around the
concept of energy though multi-sensory, interactive competition.
Learning Through Play
Throughout the workshop, students engaged in a range of puzzle-solving games designed to make energy education accessible and enjoyable.
Key topics included:
Understanding 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh): Students learned what this measurement means and what it can power in their daily lives.
Identifying household appliances: Participants explored common devices that consume electricity, fostering awareness of energy use at home.
Reading utility bills: The workshop included practical lessons on how to interpret utility bills, empowering students to take control of their energy consumption.
Energy-saving tips: Attendees received valuable insights on how to save energy at home, promoting sustainability.
Improving energy efficiency: The workshop discussed various methods to enhance energy efficiency in everyday life.
Using infrared cameras and renewable energy: Students had the opportunity to explore innovative technologies that contribute to energy conservation.
